Planning a trip to Calabria: frequently asked questions
Why spend your holiday in Calabria?
Choosing to spend your holiday in Calabria already means choosing to go off the beaten track. An authentic region awaits you, unpretentious yet offering an incredible wealth of landscapes, culture and gastronomy that is sure to surprise you.
At the foot of the Boot, centuries of history and the passage of many peoples have shaped a land where cultures have crossed, mingled and overlapped, leaving behind a living heritage that you can discover by travelling around the region by car, by bike, on foot or even by train.
Can you combine mountains and sea in the same trip?
In Calabria, the mountains and the sea are very close to one another. In the same day, it is perfectly possible to visit a mountain village or go hiking, then finish the afternoon by the sea, without having to travel long distances. This proximity makes it easy to vary your experiences and fully enjoy the diversity of Calabria’s landscapes.
How do you organise a touring trip in Calabria?
A touring trip is undoubtedly one of the best ways to discover Calabria. The region is vast and deserves to be explored at a leisurely pace. Ideally, you should allow two weeks to explore the region properly and enjoy great experiences without having to rush from one place to another.
In one week, it is also possible to take a shorter tour while still discovering a wonderful diversity of landscapes and places. Even travelling by train along the coast can be a great way to discover the region.
Calabria is full of hidden treasures. This is why working with a professional who truly knows the region can make all the difference: beyond the must-see sites, they can direct you towards more private, lesser-known places and experiences you might not have found on your own.
How does a tailor-made trip work?
We take the time to understand your holiday plans, answer your questions and give you some ideas to help build your trip.
We then prepare a detailed itinerary with a price, which we send to you so that we can discuss and adjust it together according to your wishes. The quotation becomes final once all the elements of the trip have been approved.
How far in advance should you start planning your trip?
The sooner, the better. This gives us the time to prepare your stay with care, make any necessary adjustments and respond as closely as possible to your expectations. It also allows us to offer you the accommodation options that are best suited to your itinerary and preferences.
Some establishments fill up quickly as the summer season approaches, particularly smaller, more private properties, which often have limited capacity. Planning your trip in advance therefore gives you more choice and allows us to create a truly tailor-made stay.
What is Caminia Travel’s response time?
