Calabria will host the Rosé Wines Session of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles from March 27 to 29, 2026.

One of the most emblematic wine regions in southern Italy, Calabria has been selected to stage this international event. Tastings will take place in Cirò, a unique setting that will highlight the richness and diversity of rosé wines from around the world.

An ancient tradition driving new momentum

Cirò, cradle of one of the oldest viticultural traditions in the Mediterranean, is once again taking center stage in southern Italy’s wine landscape. Located on the Ionian coast, the region bears the legacy of Magna Graecia, when Greek settlers first introduced vine cultivation here.

A pioneering appellation experiencing a revival

As the first Calabrian appellation to be awarded DOC status in 1969, Cirò has been undergoing a remarkable revival in recent years. This momentum is driven both by historic estates and a new generation of winemakers, who combine traditional know-how with innovation and sustainable practices.

Today, Cirò stands out as one of the most dynamic wine regions in southern Italy, supported by a strong identity, steadily improving quality, and growing recognition beyond regional borders.

A territory between tradition and renewal

While Gaglioppo remains the emblematic grape variety of Cirò and the backbone of its red wines, the region is now expressing greater diversity. Native varieties such as Greco Bianco and Pecorello are gaining renewed attention, thanks to producers committed to enhancing local biodiversity.

Every bottle of Cirò tells the story of a land that has never lost faith in its winemaking vocation. This ancient heritage, once closely tied to rural life, is now expressed through a collective vision focused on the future. A united and forward-looking wine community is transforming its past into a driver of growth, securing its place among the great wine regions of the Mediterranean.

By entrusting Calabria and the town of Cirò with the organization of this rosé-focused session, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles reaffirms its commitment to showcasing the world’s great wine terroirs. Taking place from March 27 to 29, the event will celebrate the quality, diversity, and dynamism of rosé wines in a region rich in history and firmly oriented toward the futur.
