Laino Borgo (CS)
In the charming village of Laino Borgo, nestled between the mountains of the Pollino National Park, one of the most fascinating traditions of Holy Week is renewed: La Giudaica. A unique event that transforms the entire town into an open-air stage, where the community passionately stages the trial, crucifixion and death of Jesus.
A centuries-old ritual that moves
La Giudaica, which has its roots in a seventeenth-century text, tells, over the course of a five-hour theatrical marathon, from the Last Supper to the Deposition of Christ. The script, unchanged over the centuries, is recited with solemn devotion, while the streets of the village are transformed into suggestive settings.
An engaging itinerant theater
Each scene takes place in a different part of the town, transforming squares, alleys and hidden corners into living elements of the narration. The historical costumes, the scenographic details and the intensity of the interpretations make this representation an immersive and touching experience.
An entire town as protagonist
La Giudaica is not only a religious show, but a moment of sharing and identity for the entire community. Every inhabitant contributes, from the extras to the volunteers, creating an event that is both theater and popular tradition.
Come and experience a unique event, between faith, culture and theater, in the heart of Calabria!
